At the top I sighed with pleasure at the beauty of the pink clouds, the mist snuggling around the houses and the feet of the hills like a smoky duvet and gratefully breathed in the Creator’s love. Then I spotted my shadow.
I stood with the sun behind me and looked to see how far I could get my shadow to stretch, easily 100 yards over and along the hill. When I waved my arms, the shadow went even further, jauntily bouncing over the tussocks and clumps.
It struck me then that I had the right to make a mark on the landscape, but one that left no harm, a creation that changed with time, light and perception, like a shadow.
Many of you, like me, have spent your lives trying not to be seen and certainly not to cast any shadow. You may have found yourself in the shadow of brighter beings in order to ensure that you would not make any impact.
Today I challenge you to stand in the light and bounce your joyful shadow out there. You never know who will feel your loving energy.
You make a difference. Believe it. You cast a shadow, especially when you stand in the light and show yourself.
I want to hear your voice. I want to see your art. I want to read your words. I want to feel your jaunty shadow.
